No doubt one of the best Squash atmospheres! Having the Olympics Flame lit up at the inaugural ceremony for us Squash Athletes is an unforgettable moment for me (as close to Olympics as it gets!!!). Kudos to Masters Association to give Squash its rightful place among all athletic sports! Thank you for all the organizers, volunteers, club staff and specially Kevin to accommodate us to play in the team event at the last moment (and thus helping us earn a Bronze souvenir for life!).

Speaking strictly on my experience of the squash games everything was done in a first class manner. A huge bravo for the City of Vancouver, including squash enthusiasts Kevin and Natasha plus all their volunteer team. As squash is mostly a winter time sport in North America, the organizers were fighting an uphill battle to fill the draws. Nevertheless they made everyone of the squash participants feel very welcomed, and to be part of it, has left me with a very satisfied feeling. I thought that my own trip across Canada was something that could have been noted, but it simply pales when one thinks about the distance the squash participants that came from far away places, such as New Zealand, Australia, Mexico, Great Britain, Barbados, Singapore, as well as many parts of the US. There are most likely more foreign countries which the squash players came from, but we all know when one gets a bit older, the memory bank starts to fade. Personally, I was able to watch many matches, both singles and the mixed doubles, and what stood out in my mind, was the strong performance from the New Zealand girls, which in my humble opinion, by far surpasses the performance of the girls who participate in squash in North America. No doubt that the word will get out about the successful inaugural experience of squash at the America Games, which was such a positive, and will serve to swell the ranks the next time out. I was fortunate to have participated in the World Master Games back in 1985, and I will tell everyone who cares to listen, that my experience in Vancouver was simply terrific, and the citizens of Vancouver can be very proud, and their hosted games, did surpass those games held back in 1985, by a wide margin. My last comment, is for all sports minded people, to champion the cause to get squash, which is played all over the world, to be included as an Olympic event.

For a first go at this event, I thought it went very well. Would have liked to have seen a bit better support from local and nearby (Alberta, Washington) players but this was an excellent event. Next time I could easily see 200+ in the individual event.
